LOMA Eye Care - A Chemistrie Certified Optical Shop
Our newest featured Chemistrie retailer is LOMA Eye Care - located in Arvada, Colorado. We sent Dr. Gallegos our questionnaire and are loving his responses!

How long have you been in business?

LOMA Eye Care has been open since October 2017.  We are still in our infancy, and it's really fun to watch our clinic grow (albeit somewhat slower than I'd like, but I'm sure that's the sentiment with all cold-start practices).

What drew you into the optical business?

I knew I wanted to be an optometrist since high school.  I had a major "Wow" factor when I put on a pair of Rx glasses for the first time; it was like a whole new world for me.  I wanted to be able to give other people the same "Wow" factor that I got, and that's when I knew I what I wanted to be.  The best part is that I have a team that shares in this vision of truly helping people by providing them the best in terms of patient care.  Of course it helps that we also boast the best prices in the city, guaranteed. We wouldn't be able to offer the quality products at these amazing prices if not for the Eyenavision lab. We are truly thankful that Eileen (the Eyenavision rep in Colorado) came to our office with such a great product.

How do you market the Chemistrie Clip?

In addition to the displays, marketing of Chemistrie Clip and the ChemTech readers usually starts in my exam room.  For me, I need to understand what my patient wants and balance that with what the patient needs.  If a patient has a vision plan, then I talk about the clips as a great added accessory that removes the need for additional pairs of eyeglasses.  Patients like the idea of picking one frame and being able to use it as sunwear as well.  My experience is that the reading clips sell a lot more than my sunclips (for now).  Many presbyopic patients are not a fan of bifocals, so many of them just go without or have a separate pair of readers.  A reading clip gives these patients an option not previously considered and they are usually excited about the idea of having a clip they can hide when they aren't using it.

How does your business get involved in the community?

Right now we are still too new to have much community involvement.  We are collaborating with the D.A.R.E. program that functions to teach children about the dangers of drug use.  We are also planning events at local schools (3 so far) where we talk about why annual eye exams are so important even when a child is seeing 20/20.  As our practice grows and can afford it, we are looking at going mobile.  We want to reach out to our homeless population and give free eye exams (and possibly glasses).

What's something fun about the town where you are located?

This city is great all around. There‚Äôs so much to do indoors and outdoors. We are located in a pocket of the city where we see a wide range of patients, so we have a unique opportunity to serve patients of all demographics, backgrounds, and budgets.

Thanks so much to LOMA Eye Care for taking the time to answer our questions! We are so inspired by the success of this young practice, and look forward to seeing what they do in the years to come. Arvada looks like such a beautiful town, full of parks and green space. Want to learn more about Arvada, CO?
